About Datastax Astra on Google Cloud:
DataStax Astra on Google Cloud Platform provides a secure, flexible, scalable database solution for developers to create and use Cassandra databases in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), without the hassles of database and infrastructure administration.
By automating tuning and configuration for the database, DataStax Astra on Google Cloud Platform radically simplifies database operations.
Guardrails help enforce best practices by defining parameters for operations such as table number and column size limits, ensuring that the database operates with consistent performance while maintaining cluster health.
Each Cassandra database employs a single Capacity Unit (CU) by default, which represents three database nodes that are grouped together. A single CU represents three replicas of approximately 500 GB of user data. CUs ensure high availability by implementing a consistent replication factor that is acceptable for both development and production workloads.
When a Cassandra database is reaching capacity, you can expand the database by adding additional CUs.
Developers can easily resize resources as their needs grow and change, and park databases when not in use to save costs and pay only for storage.
